For makers

How a launch works

You put a product on the board, pick a day, and people who are already looking at new tools can try it.

IndieNeed is a launch board for people who built something small and want it seen. A SaaS product, an AI tool, an app. You submit it. Other people browse what went live, upvote the ones they like, and write a review if they actually used it.

That is the job of the site. It is not a promise that a launch day will fill your signup form, and it is not a way to buy credit in Google. If someone tells you a directory listing will move you up in search, they are selling something this page does not sell.

What you do

You need a product that is already on the web. The form asks for a short name, one line on what it does, a longer description, and the link. You also pick the day you want it to appear. Pick a day you can be around. The comments are where a lot of the useful questions show up, and a maker who vanishes on launch day leaves those sitting there.

A free listing waits for a person to read it, then goes up on the day you chose. A paid listing skips that wait and sits in the featured area for a fixed number of days: 7, 14, or 30, depending on the plan. When that time ends, the product stays listed. Only the featured spot ends.

What other people see

On the day, the product shows with today's launches. Anyone can open the page. Upvotes come from accounts on IndieNeed. A review is meant to be from someone who tried the product, not a sentence copied from your homepage. After the day, the page stays in the product list and in its category. A separate list of other places to submit is on startup directories. The leaderboard is just the products people have voted up. It moves. It is not an award.

What a launch will not do

Some products get a handful of visits. Some get more, usually because the product is easy to understand and the maker answers people. Posting the same thing on five other directories the same morning does not change what happens here. A logo and a vague sentence do not give the next person enough to decide, so they move on.

If you are here to look rather than launch, start with today or a category. Read the description before you upvote. If you have used it, say what happened when you did.

Questions

Does it cost anything?

A listing is free. You can also pay once for featured placement and a faster publish. The prices are on the pricing page. Paying is for time on IndieNeed. It is not a way to buy a ranking on Google.

Can I pick a future date?

Yes. You choose the day when you submit. The product shows in Today's launches on that day, not before.

What should I write?

Say what it does, who it is for, and what someone can try in the first five minutes. A tagline that could fit any product does not help the next person decide.

What happens after launch day?

The page stays. People can still upvote it and leave a review. A paid featured window ends when the days you bought run out. The listing itself does not.
